Sometimes you hear a fighter make certain comments and just really question it. That might be the case with what Tyron Woodley is spewing as of late.

Woodley, a former UFC champion who turned to boxing for a short time, is making some wild claims. Those claims involve a planned fight between him and Georges St-Pierre. And it would have really generated some big paydays for both.

“Georges St-Pierre never wanted to fight me,” Woodley told Plejmo (thanks to MMA Mania for the quotes). “I’ve asked Georges to fight me several times. It was a $5-to-$7 million purse and he said no. I had an opportunity to fight him last year and the year before.”

Woodley added that the planned meeting would have taken place under mixed martial arts rules. The investor was willing to fork over a huge amount of money to make it happen.

“My Middle East investor wanted the fight, but he said no,” Woodley said. “I would have beat his brains in.”

St-Pierre, of course, is regarded as one of the greatest of all-time. He held the UFC welterweight title for nearly six years and earned nine title defenses. Woodley had the same belt for two years and made four defenses.

The 42-year-old Woodley has not competed in MMA since 2021. He has lost his last four overall, with his last win coming in 2018 vs. Darren Till in defense of the belt.

Woodley fell to Vicente Luque at UFC 260 and left the promotion shortly after. He twice stepped inside the boxing ring that same year. But both times he lost to Jake Paul, who meets Mike Tyson Friday night live on Netflix.
