Donald Cerrone’s planned return to the UFC has been met with mixed responses. Consider Daniel Cormier among the detractors.

The former double champion spoke about a potential Donald Cerrone comeback and pulled no punches. “I like Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. I’m against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone getting to compete in the UFC,” he stated on his YouTube channel.

Daniel Cormier’s objection is due to Cerrone’s post-retirement supplement regimen. The noticeably more muscled Hall of Famer has admitted to using TRT and peptides after hanging up his gloves.

“I like Donald now. But it doesn’t matter what I feel about him as a person, as a buddy or whatever our relationship is today,” Cormier said. “But he’s not been clean. And even if he can come back, take tests, pass tests…He had to do all those enhancers to allow for him to feel like he can compete at that level again. So, he would test clean, but isn’t that just a loophole?”

Donald Cerrone Hoping to Set Records with ‘Two More’

Earlier in the week, Donald Cerrone posted an Instagram video stating his desire to return to the Octagon. With 48 fights combined under the Zuffa banner, the 55-fight veteran wants “two more” to reach milestones with the promotion.

The Colorado native is frequently listed in the company record books with post-fight bonuses, knockdowns, and head kick knockouts among the highlights.

Cerrone also included a message to anyone questioning his use of banned substances.

“Now we got a protocol for all you people who are like, ‘Oh, what if you get on it? You can’t ever come off.’ Well, I now have to come off and piss clean [and] fight in a few months. So watch this”

UFC CEO Dana White is no fan of the idea either. On Tuesday, White told the media that he “loves him, hates that…If it’s about money, he can do something else.”

Cerrone retired after a July 2022 submission loss to Jim Miller at UFC 276. That concluded a winless streak of seven fights, five of which were finishes.
