For the most part, Chris Weidman dominated his UFC Atlantic City return fight Saturday night.
Unfortunately, the end had plenty of controversy surrounding it.
Weidman was declared the decision winner over Bruno Silva live on ESPN. The win marked his first since 2020.

At first, it appeared to be his first finish since submitting Kelvin Gastelum in 2017. However, upon review, an accidental pair of eye pokes led to the finish.
Silva immediately protested, trying to show replays of the pokes. After Weidman’s hand was raised, the commission reviewed the bout and awarded it to the former UFC middleweight champion on scorecards.
The last time Weidman won a bout by strikes was in 2015 when he defended the title over Vitor Belfort.
In 2021, he suffered a leg injury in a loss to Uriah Hall. After two years away, Weidman returned at UFC 292, falling to Brad Tavares. His last win was over Omari Akhmedov in his return to 185 pounds after a move to light heavyweight.
