UFC 302 Fallout
Dana White’s insistence that Jon Jones is still the best pound for pound fighter in the world sparked an interesting discussion about the difference between being the GOAT and being the best right now. Considering the lack of activity from the heavyweight champion over the last several years, both hosts feel that “Bones” has to forfeit the current top spot to Makhachev.
The pair also discuss what tough losses mean for the futures of Dustin Poirier and Paulo Costa.
Does the Show Really Need to Go On?
Before Jake Paul and Mike Tyson agreed to delay their boxing match, Burgos and Walker talked about who could step up on short notice following the former heavyweight champ’s airborne medical emergency.
After discussing the betting odds on the replacement options, Walker felt that a potential Logan/Jake fight would be better suited for the WWE, but the size of AT&T Stadium further limits the number of viable options. Both agreed that Roy Jones, Jr. would’ve kept the same overall aesthetic as “Iron Mike.”
UFC 303 is UFC 151 in Disguise
With International Fight Week on the horizon, Burgos and Walker talk about the uncertainty surrounding Conor McGregor’s appearance in the main event. While the UFC remains tight-lipped, Walker speculates that the holdup is due to some sort of monetary dispute.
Burgos points to the UFC banking the entire event on McGregor as a mistake without having a strong undercard to support the worst-case scenario.
