It’s safe to say that the line-up for UFC Wichita is nowhere nears as stacked as last weekend’s UFC 235 card, but that doesn’t mean there’s no can’t miss fights.
Case in point, in addition to the headlining fight between Junior dos Santos and Derrick Lewis, Niko Price is going to battle Tim Means in a welterweight fight. If you’ve followed either fighter in recent years, then you know both men bring it.
While talking to the media recently, here’s what Price had to say about today’s match-up (quote via MMA Junkie):
“This is going to be a great fight,” Price said. “We’re going to get in there, we’re both going to fight. That’s the great thing: It’s not going to be boring. When we get in there, we’re both going to meet in the center and then it’s going to go down.”
“Oh, they (the UFC brass) like me,” Price said. “You know I’m going to get in there and bang. We’re going to put some shows on. You don’t have to win to be great in this sport. You’ve just got to show up and fight. I like fighting, so I’m going to fight anyone.”
Not only is the fight promising on an action level, it’s a big fight for both welterweights. Price (11-2) is looking to get back on track after being KO’d by Abdul Razak Alhassan, which snapped his two-fight winning streak,
Means (28-10-1, 1 no-contest) quickly took out Ricky Rainey in his last outing, but “The Dirty Bird” dropped back-t0-back, split decisions to Sergio Moraes and Belal Muhammad before that. So a win today for either Price or Means, could definitely serve as a big momentum builder.
