UFC Results, Highlights
Amir Albazi slipped past Kai Kara-France and earned a main event victory at UFC Vegas 74 Saturday night. The flyweight contest served as the headline act from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, as both the main and preliminary cards are live on ESPN and streamed live on ESPN+.
Using his skills to the highest degree, Albazi pushed his win streak to six in a row with a split decision win over Kara-France. He is now 17-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 with the UFC, having also scored three finishes with the promotion.
Albazi was able to gain control of the contest with the former interim UFC flyweight contender, earning two of the scorecards. Kara-France suffered his second consecutive loss, as Brandon Moreno also bested him for the interim title last July.
In the co-main event, Alex Caceres claimed a decision victory over Daniel Pineda. Caceres improved to 21-13 and scored his 16th win since joining the UFC all the way back in 2011.
Jim Miller Destroys Jesse Butler, Tim Elliott Wins
Jim Miller had no trouble with late-minute replacement Jesse Butler, as he knocked Butler out in just 23 seconds.
Miller was scheduled to meet Ludovit Klein before Klein was replaced by Jared Gordon. However, earlier in the week, Gordon bowed out and Butler stepped in.
Tim Elliott, a former flyweight title challenger and winner of The Ultimate Fighter, claimed a decision over Victor Altamirano.
Karine Silva submitted Ketlen Souza with a first round Achilles lock and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos earned a split decision over Abubakar Nurmagomedov to complete the main card.
Andrei Arlovski Denied On Prelims
The prelims featured a bantamweight battle between Daniel Santos and Johnny Munoz Jr., with Santos picking up the decision win. Santos was even able to survive being docked a point for an illegal groin strike in the third round.
Former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski was unable to add another win to his resume, as he was finished by Don’Tale Mayes in the second round.
John Castaneda, Muhammad Naimov, Elise Reed, Da’Mon Blackshear and Philipe Lins all picked up prelim wins.
