A potential fight of the year is set for Saturday when Max Holloway fights Chan Sung Jung at UFC on ESPN+ 83. The event takes place from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Plain and simply put, these are two of the very best to step foot inside the Octagon.
UFC On ESPN+ 83 Main Event Will Be A Classic
Expect nothing short of fireworks this weekend when Max Holloway and Chan Sung Jung collide at UFC on ESPN+ 83.
The featherweight fight headlines the ESPN+ card from Kallang, Singapore and the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Along with Holloway and “The Korean Zombie” battling it out over five rounds, Anthony Smith faces Ryan Spann, Giga Chikadze meets Alex Caceres and former UFC women’s flyweight title challenger Taila Santos squares off with Erin Blanchfield.
But the eyes of the mixed martial arts world will be focused in on the main event for this one.
UFC On ESPN+ 83: Max Holloway Always Brings His A-Game
A former champion, Holloway is coming off a decision victory over Arnold Allen from this past April. He is now 3-1 over his last four fights, with the lone loss being by decision to current champion Alexander Volkanovski.
Outside of Volkanovski and a move up to lightweight to battle Dustin Poirier, nobody in the UFC has touched “Blessed” since 2013. That was a decision loss to Conor McGregor that came on the heels of a setback to Dennis Bermudez.
Since, Holloway has gone 17-4 with wins over Jose Aldo, Frankie Edgar, Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega just to name a few.
Overall he brings a mark of 24-7 into his fight, which will be another main event on his resume. Holloway’s 13-fight win streak is the longest in the division and he also holds the division record with 19 wins.
He has the most significant strikes landed in UFC history at just over 3,100 and also holds countless other marks.
UFC On ESPN+ 83: The Zombie Is Back
Jung was forced to miss time due to a military commitment in his home country of South Korea. But he has continued to remain the same old “Korean Zombie” fans have learned to adore.
Last year, he suffered a loss to Volkanovski for the title after going 3-1 for a stretch with wins over Dan Ige and Edgar. He also finished Renato Moicano as part of back-to-back Performance of the Night bonuses.
Jung challenged for the belt back in 2013 when he fell to Aldo and is 17-7 overall with a 2012 win vs. Poirier and victories over Dennis Bermudez and Leonard Garcia.
