UFC

This coming Saturday, Sean Strickland will headline UFC on ESPN 48 when he battles Abusupiyan Magomedov in the main event. The card takes place live on ESPN and ESPN+ from the Apex in Las Vegas.

UFC On ESPN 48 Main Event To Feature An Interesting Battle

The headline act this Saturday night at UFC on ESPN 48 features two interesting fighters. Sean Strickland takes on Abusupiyan Magomedov in a middleweight collision live on ESPN from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The bout – and card for that matter – kick-starts what is going to be a crazy and hectic beginning to July for the promotion.

Along with Strickland vs. Magomedov, Damir Ismagulov faces Grant Dawson and Max Griffin tackles Michael Morales. The action all streams on ESPN+ and airs live on ESPN.

Sean Strickland Needs A Strong Showing

After putting together a six-fight win streak, Strickland has gone just 1-2 over his last three. He has definitely stepped up in terms of his competition, losing a split decision to Jared Cannonier and a knockout loss to former champion Alex Pereira.

Strickland did bounce back this past January when he moved up to light heavyweight and topped Nassourdine Imavov for his 26th career win. He is 13-5 since joining the promotion back in 2014 with a submission of Bubba McDaniel.

During his pre-UFC days, Strickland won the King of the Cage middleweight title, defending it five times. He has picked up numerous key wins over the years, including a decision of Uriah Hall and a finish vs. Nordine Taleb.

Abusupiyan Magomedov Is Going To Be A Challenge

Magomedov made his Octagon debut last September, landing a front-kick and flooring Dustin Stoltzfus in just 19 seconds. That win propelled him quickly up the ranks despite fighting only three times since 2018.

All three of those bouts, though, have not only resulted in wins, but finishes for the 32-year-old. Magomedov is 25-4 overall with 14 knockout and six more submission wins.

He competed in the PFL several times, picking up a win over former champion Sadibou Sy by decision in 2018.
