UFC On ESPN 46: Andrei Arlovski Makes Walk Once Again

Andrei Arlovski

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski steps inside the Octagon for a 40th time this Saturday at UFC on ESPN 46.

Andrei Arlovski Fights For 40th Time Inside Octagon

It is quite incredible that a fighter who has been inside the Octagon for as long as Andrei Arlovski has is still planning to do it at 44 years old.

Arlovski, a former heavyweight champion, meets Don’Tale Mayes this Saturday night at UFC on ESPN 46. The event takes place live on ESPN and streams on ESPN+ from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

For Arlovski, this will be his 40th fight inside the Octagon, as he has won 23 of them. Both of those marks are second-most in UFC history, as he is tied with Donald Cerrone for wins.

Despite turning 44 years old last year, Arlovski fought three times, going 2-1. He topped both Jake Collier and Jared Vanderaa before suffering a submission loss in October to Marcos Rogerio de Lima.

Resume Features Former UFC Champs, Legends

Overall, Arlovski owns a record of 34-21 with two no-contests in his career. He has scored 17 knockout and three more wins by submission.

What is even more impressive, though, is the fact that since a five-fight losing skid between 2015-17, Arlovski has gone 9-6 with a no-contest.

Throughout his career, he has gone up against the likes of Stefan Struve, Josh Barnett, Alistair Overeem, Francis Ngannou, Stipe Miocic, Frank Mir, Anthony Johnson, Fedor Emelianenko, Roy Nelson and Antonio Silva.

You would be hard-pressed to find another heavyweight fighter with the kind of resume like Arlovski’s. And it seems to still be able to go with the younger guys.

Opponent Looking To Make Own Name

Mayes is 9-5 with a no-contest, coming off a loss to Augusto Sakai this past February. He owns five knockout and two submission wins, including a 2021 finish of Josh Parisian.

The card features a main event between flyweight contenders Kai Kara-France and Amir Albazi, along with featherweights Alex Caceres and Daniel Pineda.

Jim Miller, who is also a veteran of the UFC like Arlovski, recently received a new opponent in Jesse Butler after Jared Gordon was forced out. Miller holds the record of UFC fights, as this will mark his 42nd overall.
