Following the cancellation of UFC 233, which was set to feature Robbie Lawler taking on Ben Askren, the promotion’s announced a new date for the welterweight contest.
As was reported was the plan by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the UFC’s confirmed that Askren – Lawler will be part of UFC 235, March 2nd.
Lawler (28-12, 1 no-contest) went through 2018 without competing, on account of injuries he sustained in his decision loss to Rafael dos Anjos last December. The former champ is 3-2 in his last five contests.
Askren (18-0) will be making his Octagon debut following his move from ONE Championship. In his last outing in November, 2017, the decorated wrestler and now former ONE champ quickly stopped Shinya Aoki.
UFC 235 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
