UFC 300: Leon Edwards Hopeful For Spot On Card To Defend Championship

Leon Edwards

The coming year is one Leon Edwards hopes leads to some marquee fights.

Edwards, the reigning UFC welterweight champion, was in attendance over the weekend during a soccer match between Aston Villa and Burnley in Birmingham, England.

During a brief interview, Edwards announced plans to defend his title at UFC 300 in Las Vegas in 2024 before returning home to do the same.

“I will defend my belt in April at UFC 300 in Vegas again, then hopefully in the summertime get a show back in Birmingham at Villa Park,” Edwards said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “I’m in talks with the UFC, so hopefully we can get it done.”

UFC 300 Fight Card Coming Together

At the moment, several fights have been added to the marquee UFC 300 event. Those include Jiri Prochazka vs. Alesandar Rakic and Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar. No championship matches, though, have been made official.

Edwards earned a decision win over Colby Covington in December at UFC 296. That marked his second title defense and 12th straight win. He is unbeaten over his last 13 fights overall.
