Reigning UFC champion Sean Strickland couldn’t wait any longer to get his hands on Dricus du Plessis.
While the two were in attendance at UFC 296, Strickland went after du Plesis in the crowd. The champion is set to defend his title at UFC 297 next month vs. du Plessis.
Plenty of video has been posted to social media detailing the incident, and you can be sure UFC president Dana White will address the matter during his upcoming post-fight press conference.
Strickland and du Plessis had an interesting face-off earlier this week to promote their bout, which will headline the January 20 card from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the Scotiabank Arena.
It will mark the first title defense for Strickland, as he takes on du Plessis, a former KSW champion.
Also scheduled will be a bout between Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva for the vacant women’s bantamweight title.
Sean Strickland Asks Family To Move Before Attack
Moments before launching himself at du Plessis, Strickland appears to ask a female and child to move so they are not involved. Reports have indicated that it was the wife of fellow fighter Gilbert Burns who Strickland approached.
