Following last night’s memorable bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, and the ugly brawl that ensued, there have been some calls for the two to fight again. So what does Tony Ferguson think of that?
Ferguson returned to the cage at UFC 229 last night, and proceeded to earn a thrilling win (via corner stoppage) over Anthony Pettis. After that, Nurmagomedov retained the lightweight title, by submitting McGregor in round four.
Well, at the post fight presser, Ferguson was asked to comment on the idea of Nurmagomedov – McGregor 2, and “El Cucuy” had this to say (quote via MMA Fighting):
“Rematch? The dude got finished,” Ferguson said. “Dude got straight up finished. If you got finished, you need to move the f**k on.”
Ferguson’s likely not the only person who shares this view. In reality, the bout between Khabib and Conor wasn’t that close, so, ordinarily, talk of a rematch wouldn’t be taking place. But, when you’re talking about one of the biggest stars in all of sports, things change.
With last night’s victory, Ferguson moved his winning streak to 11, and his overall record to 24-3.
UFC 229 was hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
