On Tuesday, the MMA world was delivered a jolt with the news that Derrick Lewis is going to challenge heavyweight champ, Daniel Cormier next month, and Stipe Miocic’s not too happy about it.
Yes, following his come from behind, KO win over Alexander Volkov at UFC 229 this past weekend, Lewis has reportedly been booked to fight Cormier, November 3rd, at UFC 230. After news of the booking broke, Miocic let it be known he’s not on board with the decision, and that prompted an exchange with Cormier himself.
Good question. I’m ready to win that belt back. https://t.co/Mt4iYGjBuV

9 times out of 10 I beat DC. Everyone knows it. DC knows it. No heavyweight has ever accomplished what I have. #HWGOAT pic.twitter.com/ca7DDpHTOK

You beat me that night. I respect that. But it would never happen again. I carried the torch in this division for a long time. I’ve been staying up all night with my new born daughter and I still offered to fight you nov 3 with ZERO camp weeks ago.

Cormier knocked Miocic out this past July to end the latter’s run as heavyweight champ. UFC 230 will be hosted by Madison Square Garden in New York City.
