It looks like Islam Makhachev’s alleged involvement in the post-fight brawl at UFC 229 hasn’t cost him his spot on the UFC roster after all…
It’s being reported that Khabib Nurmagomedov’s teammate is going to battle Francisco Trinaldo on January 26th. The fight will be part of UFC 223 in Anaheim.
Makhacheve (16-1) is coming off a submission win over Kajan Johnson in July, and is widely considered to be a top rising commodity in the 155 division. After the incident at UFC 229, Dana White said that any of Khabib’s teammates who were involved in the brawl would be cut.
Trinaldo (23-6), meanwhile, took out Evan Dunham in his last bout, which went down in September.
So, this is a great bout at 155, and you have to wonder if maybe Khabib’s other teammate, Zubaira Tukhugov, could return to the Octagon as well.
