Who will Shavkat Rakhmonov next fight be against?

Rakhmonov was set to meet Belal Muhammad for the UFC welterweight championship. An injury, though, forced Muhammad out at UFC 310. Muhammad went on to defeat Ian Machado Garry and cement his status as No. 1 contender. But what if Muhammad doesn’t get cleared quickly? Could “Nomad” take on someone else? Here are three potential opponent options for the unbeaten fighter.

  • Title fight: If all aligns correctly, Rakhmonov should get his shot at Belal Muhammad in early 2025 for the UFC welterweight title.
  • Interim: Should Muhammad suffer another setback and his return delayed, Rakhmonov vs. Leon Edwards for the interim title makes sense.
  • Super fight: How about Rakhmonov vs. Khamzat Chimaev? That would be fun, would’t it?

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Ian Machado Garry recap

Rakhmonov was put to the test vs. a game Garry, as he forced the action. While Rakhmonov prevailed, Garry definitely showed some holes in his game. That might be the first time since coming to the UFC that we have seen that happen.

In the end, though, Rakhmonov was just too much for Garry. He used his wrestling to secure a pair of takedowns. “The Future” did out-land “Nomad” over the course of 25 minutes, 102-65. That included a plus-5 advantage in significant strikes.

Survive and advance: While Rakhmonov was able to control rounds 2-4, it was Garry who came on strong late. Knowing he was behind, Garry landed 38 of 46 strikes in the fifth round and attempted two submissions. Rakhmonov didn’t appear winded, he just kind of went into defense mode to earn the win.
