Sean O’Malley’s Eligible to Scrap Again, Following Resolution of USADA Case

It looks like Sean O’Malley will be returning to the Octagon in the not too distant future, as he’s one of four fighters, USADA’s determined a contaminated supplement was behind their failed drug tests.

The rising bantamweight has been sidelined as a result of a USADA flag for ostarine. But, MMA Fighting is reporting USADA’s determined that O’Malley’s positive test was consistent with supplement contamination.

The 24-year-old has been suspended for six months retroactively to September 18th, 2018, and as a result, O’Malley is cleared to fight again.

Following today’s news, O’Malley tweeted out this:

Former flyweight champ Nicco Montaño, Augusto Mendes and Marvin Vettori also picked up retroactive, six-month suspensions due to positive tests for ostarine, which, USADA cited was likely due to contaminated supplements as well.

Vettori and Mendes can compete immediately, while Montano will be eligible to fight on May 15th.
