UFC 308 Fallout Twists Title Picture

With all due respect to Ilia Topuria, perhaps the biggest question on the mind of fans after UFC 308 center around Max Holloway. According to Walker the door is “shut for a featherweight title.” This leaves a permanent move to lightweight the most sensible option for the beloved veteran.
Burgos and Walker agree that the proposed BMF tournament is a great way to kick off his 155 campaign.
After clearing two divisional GOAT candidates, Topuria has a chance to become a dominant champion. However, both hosts agree that the path shouldn’t go through Alexander Volkanovski in a rematch right now. Burgos sees “El Matador” as being perfectly positioned to be the “next European star” for the promotion.
Khamzat Chimaev dominated Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 and silenced all doubts about legitimacy. Was it enough to leapfrog Sean Strickland for a shot at Dricus Du Plessis? Walker believes “Borz” should be next up. However, Burgos sees a fight with Israel Adesanya as the missing piece to a title opportunity.

Notorious Bargaining Chip

It’s been well over three years since Conor McGregor stepped in the Octagon. Jake Paul believes that the upcoming negotiations for UFC broadcasting rights is a huge factor in his inactivity.
Both Burgos and Walker believe Paul’s theory “makes all the sense in the world.” Considering the mega deal TKO scored with the WWE, it seems very plausible that two McGregor fights can net the parent company another huge win.
Only 10,000 Buys for Francis Ngannou? Super

Francis Ngannou’s MMA return only brought in a reported 10,000 buys. Is the sky falling at PFL? While that number doesn’t scream box office success, it isn’t necessarily the omen it can be perceived as.
Walker references Donn Davis’ past remarks about breaking even with big name PPV events to help establish the brand. Burgos feels 10,000 is a “rough number” but their backing from Saudi Arabia means they aren’t a normal company.
