During a week where it’s been reported that the UFC is indeed, going to shutter the men’s flyweight division, news has surfaced that Henry Cejudo will defend the 125 title against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 223.
ESPN is reporting that multiple sources have informed the outlet that the super fight is going to take place on January 26th, at UFC 233 in Anaheim. There’s no official word yet on the bout, or whether this would be the final, flyweight title fight.
Following former champ Demetrious Johnson’s departure for ONE Championship, there’s been renewed speculation that the UFC is going to stop promoting men’s flyweight bouts. This week a couple of flyweights on the roster have reported that they’ve been released, in advance of the shutdown.
The bantamweight champ Dillashaw, meanwhile, has been pushing for the Cejudo fight to take place at 125, and it looks like he’s got his wish.
