As it stands right now, everything is looking good, in terms of Jon Jones’ chances of getting a license for his March 2nd bout with Anthony Smith at UFC 235.
That’s because ESPN is reporting that Jones’ fight night tests for UFC 232, which included tests by USADA and the California Commission, were negative for banned substances. Jones took on Alexander Gustafsson at the December 29th card, and stopped the light-heavyweight in round three.
As you likely know, UFC 232 was supposed to take place in Las Vegas, but due to an atypical drug test result for Jones, he couldn’t get licensed in time by Nevada (and the card was moved to Los Angeles).
So, the fact these tests have come back clear should bode well for Jones on January 29th, when he has his licensing hearing with the Nevada Commission.
