Report: Ben Askren – Jorge Masvidal Scrap Has Been Verbally Agreed To

Ever since UFC London went down, there’s been a lot of talk about Jorge Masvidal and Ben Askren fighting next. Well, now it’s being reported that Masvidal has agreed to face the decorated wrestler.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani is reporting that sources say Masvidal has verbally agreed to fight Askren at the UFC’s July 6th card. The report states that Askren has said he’s down to fight Masvidal on that date.

Askren headed to London earlier this month to watch the headlining fight between Darren Till and Jorge Masvidal, with the hope of securing a bout with the winner. Masvidal, as you surely know, KO’d Till in spectacular fashion.

Since then, Masvidal and Askren have traded verbal shots, and it looks like they’re going to exchange physical blows on July 6th.

Recently it was reported that Jon Jones will defend the 205 belt against Thiago Santos at UFC 239, and that Holly Holm will challenge Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title at the event as well. So, if Askren – Masvidal is indeed finalized, the card’s line-up is off-and-running.

UFC 239 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
