When you are someone like PFL champion Francis Ngannou, you are going to receive random challenges all the time. Ngannou, though, has been pegged with an interesting one – especially considering the way it was presented.
Oumar Kane, who competes under the name “Reug Reug” for ONE Championship, is that challenger. He recently claimed the heavyweight title for that promotion with a victory over Anatoly Malykhin. And wasted no time in calling out Ngannou.

“The Boss (Chatri Sityodtong), you were happy to make Ngannou vs. Anatoly happen,” Reug posted on social media. “I beat the guy, so let’s make the biggest fight in African history. I know (PFL) will say yes and it will be the greatest honor of my fight career.
“Everyone has told me I can’t beat who’s in front of me every fight. Let’s test it against the greatest African MMA star in history. Let’s show the world what we can do.”
Why Francis Ngannou Vs. Reug Reug Might Actually Happen
If the logistics of pairing a fighter under contract with one company against one under contract to another can be figured out, we might have something. PFL has made it a priority to give Ngannou unique challenges.
They are also building up internationally, handing over PFL Africa to Ngannou to work with. What better way than to fight himself in the country.
Reug Reug is a Senegalese wrestler who has transitioned into MMA. The 32-year-old is 7-1 with four knockout victories and has not lost since 2021.
