Neil Magny waited to find the right time to gain an edge over Carlos Condit.
Once Magny found that, he used it to claim a decision victory over the returning Condit at UFC 219 Saturday night.
“Coming in, I knew it was going to be a super close fight,” Magny said. “I didn’t know where an advantage would be, so when I saw that wrestling would be an advantage, I took it.”

Magny, making his 17th appearance inside the Octagon since a run on The Ultimate Fighter, used that wrestling prowess to defeat the former interim UFC welterweight champion. He is now 20-6 overall and 13-5 with the UFC including wins over Condit, former UFC champion Johny Hendricks and top contender Kelvin Gastelum.
With the victory, Magny is now tied with Donald Cerrone for most UFC wins since the start of 2013 at 13.
Condit was competing for the first time in 18 months after re-kindling his desire to fight following a loss to Demian Maia. He is 30-11 in his career and has lost three consecutive fights since a 2015 win over Thiago Alves.
