If for some bizarre reason, someone had questioned Mike Perry’s toughness prior to UFC Uruguay, they cerainly won’t be now.
An epic slugfest as expected
Perry faced Vicente Luque in the co-headliner of UFC Uruguay on Saturday, and as expected, the welterweights went to war and then some. After three, action-packed rounds, Perry had landed 87 significant strikes to Luque’s 84, and he outscored the welterweight in total by a 116 t0 85 margin.
But, Luque inflicted considerable damage on Perry, as he cut “Platinum” by both of his eyes, and absolutely destroyed his nose (as you can see in the graphic image below). Luque was awarded the fight via split decision.
Successful surgery (warning: graphic image)
Well, following the vicious battle, Perry’s manager Abraham Kawa, told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani the news below:
Mike Perry underwent successful nose surgery in Uruguay early this AM, per his mgr Abraham Kawa. Kawa said he had some previous fractures in his nose that had to be taken care, as well, so the surgery was a bit lengthy. He’s expected to remain there for at least a couple days.

Before Perry underwent surgery, UFC President Dana White posted this wince-inducing image:

Here’s hoping Perry has a full and speedy recovery. Chances are we probably won’t see him back in the cage too soon, considering the damage he took on Saturday.
