Talk about Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov fighting again has died down considerably in the last couple of weeks, but now the latter’s father is talking about the possibility of a rematch…but there’s a catch.
Right after Khabib submitted McGregor at UFC 229 last month there were calls for an immediate rematch, but much of those stemmed from the reaction to the ugly, post-fight brawl. Once things calmed down a bit, more-and-more people came around to the fact that Nurmagomedov had dominated much of the action, and that Tony Ferguson, rather than Conor, should be next for the lightweight champ. Even Dana White acknowledged as much.
Well, recently Khabib’s father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov spoke with Izvestia, and while doing so, he reportedly said this (quotes via Irish Mirror).
“As for the fight against Conor according to the rules of boxing, we are interested in such a fight.
“Khabib showed that he is able to win the best drummers of mixed martial arts. He talked about this before, but few believed it.
“However, after bright victories over Michael Johnson, Edson Barbosa and Conor, (people) begin to believe.”
Now, you would think that since the UFC is really about MMA, and not boxing, this will go nowhere. Yes, even if White is getting back into the boxing game.
