I didn’t think he was capable of it, but I was wrong. In the main event of last night’s UFC on ESPN+8, Swede middleweight Jack Hermansson out-grappled, out-struck and out-worked Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza to earn the decision. I guess this means Hermansson is close to title contention, or interim title contention, or whatever they’re doing these days.
Hermansson very nearly ended things in the first, stunning the Brazilian and jumping to a slick outside guillotine (remember Mike Ciesnolevicz in the IFL? He used to nail these).

Jacare survived, but took more of a beating.

The longtime contender did have his moments…

…But Hermansson was just too relentless, keeping up the pressure while shutting down whatever Jacare tried to get going.
So I guess this means we have someone to add to the already extremely confusion middleweight equation.
