Jamahal Hill finds himself in hot water as he continues to recover from an injury.
According to a report by TMZ, Hill, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, was arrested and faces a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence after allegedly assaulting his brother.
Hill was booked into a Kent County (Michigan) jail earlier this week and released the same day. He is expected back in court in January to answer the charges.
State prosecutors charged him with a single count of misdemeanor aggravated domestic violence for allegedly assaulting James Anthony Hill Jr., inflicting “serious or aggravated injury upon him.”
In a statement released to MMA Fighting, Brian Butler of Suckerpunch Entertainment defended his client.
“The recent ‘clickbait’ headlines about Jamahal Hill were based on an alleged dispute between him and his older brother,” Butler said. “Jamahal adamantly maintains his innocence and denies the false accusations.
“We will not be commenting anymore about this until the truth comes out in court.”
The 32-year-old Hill was forced to vacate his title after defeating Glover Teixeira this past January at UFC 283. The win was his fourth straight and moved his record to 12-1 overall with a no-contest.
Hill suffered a torn Achilles tendon while playing basketball during UFC International Fight Week in July that forced the decision.
