Dana White Comments on Future of UFC’s Flyweight Division…Sort Of

There’s been rampant speculation and even reports recently that the UFC is shuttering the men’s flyweight division. But, when Dana White was asked about the future of the division this weekend, the UFC President was non-commital.

In recent weeks there have been rumors circulating that the men’s flyweight division might get shut down, especially after former champ Demetrious Johnson left for ONE. Last week a couple of flyweights reported they had been released, in advance of the division’s shutdown.

But, when White was asked about the bracket’s future this past weekend, he reportedly said they’re “working on some things”, before referencing the upcoming, January 26th bout between bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw and flyweight champ, Henry Cejudo.

So, it remains to be seen what’s going to happen here, but here’s hoping the flyweight division remains open for business.
