Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been booked to fight four times to date, and it looks like, yet again, the bout has been cancelled…
The lightweight contenders were supposed to fight in the headliner of UFC 223, which will go down next Saturday. But, on Sunday, yes, on April Fool’s Day, Dana White made the announcement below. Note that the UFC President said it’s not an April Fool’s Day prank, and other outlets are reporting Ferguson’s out.
BOOM!!!!!! We got Khabib vs The Champ Max Holloway for the 155lb title this Saturday in Brooklyn New York!!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/quvI3UqGXh

Not only is the news a shock, since, yet again, Ferguson – Nurmagomedov has failed to happen, but Holloway withdrew from UFC 222 last month due to injury.
Holloway’s last bout went down in December, when the featherweight champ stopped Jose Aldo for a second time. Nurmagomedov also fought that month, and earned a decision win over Edson Barboza.
So, can Holloway become the fifth UFC fighter to win titles in two divisions?
