After UFC 232, Anthony Smith was quick to call for a bout with Jon Jones, and now Corey Anderson has made sure the light-heavyweight champ’s thinking about throwing hands with him as well.
Following Jones’ stoppage win over Alexander Gustafsson at the recent event, Smith began his campaign for a fight with the champ on the post-fight broadcast. Since then, Smith has also let Jones know that he’s down to fight him whenever and wherever.
Well, Anderson also competed at UFC 232 and he earned a decision win over top contender, Ilir Latifi. The victory was Anderson’s third straight and it has moved him into the #6 ranking at 205.
More recently, Anderson dismissed Smith as a rightful challenger and outlined his case for a title shot via the tweet below.
@JonnyBones F what the people talking about, I'm your huckleberry. Everybody else is booked and Smith hasn't earned his stripes. @ufc @AliAbdelaziz00 @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 @arielhelwani @MMAjunkie pic.twitter.com/n6Q3bnhB8u

Then, the two had this brief exchange:
All the smoke!!

So, could Anderson get a title shot? It would be kind of surprising if he did. While it is true that he has a more extensive resume at 205 than Smith, the latter is coming off a series of stoppages and is ranked higher.
