Conor McGregor vs. Anderson Silva? LW Champ’s Down if The “Numbers Are Right”

Recently Anderson Silva has let it be known that he’d be interested in fighting Conor McGregor, and not surprisingly, the latter’s down, provided the numbers add up…

Silva will take on fellow middleweight contender Derek Brunson this Saturday, in the co-main event of UFC 208. In recent weeks the legendary fighter has fielded questions about McGregor, and Silva has said he’d like to test his striking against the Irish star’s. The Brazilian has also said McGregor “doesn’t have jiu-jitsu”.

Well, at McGregor’s recent media / fan event, the lightweight champ had this to say about Silva, and the possibility of a fight with him (quote via MMA Junkie):

“You see Anderson (Silva)? What’s Anderson talking about? What the (expletive) is Anderson Silva talking about? He keeps mentioning my name over and over again. Look, I’ll fight any one of them. Make sure the numbers are right, make sure the situation is right. I’ll fight any one of them at any given time.”

Now, clearly this could be a massive fight, but the chances of it happening are slim. The biggest hurdle, of course is the weight. Silva claims he could cut down at 175, but “The Spider” would have a massive size advantage over McGregor. Plus, McGregor has plenty of other possibilities right now, in terms of his next opponent. Like Tony Ferguson or Khabib Nurmagomedov, and then of course, Floyd Mayweather…

In addition, Dana White has also said recently that McGregor probably shouldn’t have fought Nate Diaz at 170, while discussing whether a third bout with the latter will happen.
