How about this for a main event? Flash all the way back to June 19, 2015 as Kimbo Slice took on Ken Shamrock inside the cage at Bellator 138. Yes, you read that correctly.
Bellator 138 Featured Kimbo Slice’s Last Victory
Just under 7,000 fans turned out to the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri on June 19, 2015 to watch as Kimbo Slice took on Ken Shamrock at Bellator 138.
Slice, who made a name for himself in backyard brawls before competing briefly for the UFC, rejoined Scott Coker in Bellator. This was a bout that had originally been planned in 2008 on CBS’ Saturday Night Fights at EliteXC, but Shamrock suffered a pre-fight cut.
Seven years later, fans were given the opportunity to see it all. Slice ended the contest just over two minutes into the first round, stopping Shamrock in his tracks.
Sadly, Slice would pass away a year later due to heart failure while training for a fight with James Thompson at Bellator 158.
The Rise Of Patricio Pitbull
Patricio Pitbull has become one of the top fighters in the world. Back in 2015, he was just embarking on his trail.
Pitbull scored a second round knockout of Season 10 tournament winner Daniel Weichel in the co-main event to defend his featherweight title.
Originally, he was scheduled to meet Georgi Karakhanyan, but that bout was delayed due to an injury.
Bobby Lashley Shines Bright
Speaking of larger-than-life athletes, Bobby Lashley was in action at the event. Lashley, a WWE superstar and multi-time champion, finished Dan Charles in the second round.
Lashley would compete twice more in MMA before turning his full attention and focus to pro wrestling. He finished his career 15-2 overall with 12 stoppage wins, including five consecutive finishes.
Michael Chandler Delights Hometown Fans
While still a few years away from becoming the fighter he is now, Michael Chandler got back on track after a loss to Will Brooks on this night.
Chandler submitted Derek Campos for his 13th career win and the first of a four-fight streak that included his claiming the lightweight title and defending it vs. Benson Henderson.
Daniel Mason-Straus, a future Bellator champion, scored a second round submission over Henry Corrales on the main card.
