Johnny Eblen proved he is one of the top middleweight fighters in the world still Saturday, scoring a successful title defense over Fabian Edwards. The championship match served as the main event live on Showtime for Bellator 299 from the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.
Eblen landed with strikes in succession on Edwards in the third round, seeing the bout come to a halt just 21 seconds in. For the champion, it marked the second successful title defense, adding to a February decision over Anatoly Tokov.
In the co-main event, Aaron Pico made a serious push towards the top of the featherweight rankings with a first round finish of Pedro Carvalho. Pico, one of the top prospects for years in the sport, has now won two in a row since a shoulder injury in a 2022 fight with Jeremy Kennedy led to a loss.
Other main card winners included Sara Collins, Mads Burnell and Levan Chokheli. Both Collins and Burnell won by decision while Chokheli knocked out Sabah Homasi with a front-kick.
Bellator 299 Results: Illegal Kick Ends Peter Queally Fight
The prelim main event between Peter Queally and Daniele Miceli was stopped just 26 seconds into the first round after an illegal soccer kick by Miceli to Queally caused the stoppage.
Jay-Jay Wilson, Gregory Babene and Ciaran Clarke were among the other prelim winners on the night, as all three scored submission victories.

On October 7, a special Bellator 300 will take place with four championship matches Usman Nurmagomedov and Brent Primus meet for both the title and a spot in the Bellator Lightweight World Grand Prix.
Other championship matches include Cris Cyborg vs. Cat Zingano, Ryan Bader vs. Linton Vassell and Liz Carmouche vs. Ilima-Lei Macfarlane.
