Artem Lobov may have a losing record in pro-MMA, but recently Conor McGregor’s buddy outlined why he believes he’s one of the most successful fighters in the game.
The 32-year-old featherweight was a guest on this week’s episode of Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, in the wake of the news that he’s now a free agent. While discussing his carer to date, the 13-15-1, with 1 no-contest fighter had this to say (quotes via MMA Mania):
“Now that I’ve been in this sport for so long, I know this now more than ever what success is, it’s how many people are watching your fights. If no one is watching, it doesn’t matter what else you are achieving, you are not successful.
“If people are watching your fights and they care about what you do then that is success to me. As far as I’m concerned, I am one of the most successful fighters in the world.”
Now, chances are Lobov’s going to take some heat from critics for saying this. But, don’t be surprised if Lobov gets added to the main card of a big stage promotion’s event soon. How many fighters with a sub .500 record can say that?
