Who Will Anthony Joshua Next Fight Be Against?

After suffering back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua has bounced back with four consecutive wins and forced his way back into the title picture with his memorable KO of Francis Ngannou.

Joshua was already presumed to be next up for the winner of Daniel Dubois and Filip Hrgovic. Because Hrgovic was the IBF’s mandatory challenger for Usyk, the sanctioning body flirted with the idea of stripping their belt from the newly-minted undisputed champ but opted to install an interim title instead.

Ironically, Usyk opened the door for this opportunity by vacating the IBF belt. That promoted Dubois, who has his own loss to Usyk, from the interim status he earned by stopping Hrgovic.

How to Watch Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois

The event is expected to air on DAZN PPV live on Sept. 21. The card will begin at 2PM ET/11 AM PT. Further details have not yet been announced.

Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou Recap

Francis Ngannou shocked the world with his surprising performance against a reportedly unmotivated Tyson Fury in 2023. Meanwhile Anthony Joshua was eyeing a match with Wilder following their appearances on December’s Day of Reckoning event. Joshua finished Otto Wallin as expected, but Wilder failed to live up to his end of the bargain when he dropped a decision to Parker.

What Happened: Unfortunately for Ngannou, Anthony Joshua took the MMA fighter very seriously. After a tense start that saw AJ absorb some hard punches, he used feints to set up a trap that put Ngannou on the canvas twice. Late in the second round, Joshua put his lights out with a thunderous right hand.

The Fallout: Anthony Joshua looked far removed from the man who lost three title fights within three years. After a stellar 2023 and a frightening finish of the lineal MMA champ, he might be ready to resume his prior dominance. It also, yet again, highlighted just how wide the gap is between boxers and MMA fighters.

The Roadmap: Two years after parting with championship glory, AJ is on the cusp killing two birds with one stone. If he beats Dubois, it puts him in perfect position for either redemption against Usyk or a long-awaited bout with Tyson Fury.
