Vasyl Lomachenko-George Kambosos Results Featuring Three Title Fights

Vasyl Lomachenko George Kambosos

Two of the top lightweight boxers in the world squared off Saturday night as Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos met. The fight aired live on ESPN from the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

From the opening bell on, it was all Lomachenko. He scored a decisive victory over Kambosos to leave the ring with championship belts once more around his waist.

With just seconds left, he floored Kambosos and the referee stepped in, ending the fight.

Lomachenko, who has held titles in three weight classes, is a former unified and lineal lightweight champion. He won two Olympic gold medals and is credited with an amateur record of 396-1.

Back in 2020, he was upset by Teofimo Loez for the lightweight crowns. Coming into the fight vs. Kambosos, though, he had won three of four.

Kambosos, a native of Australia, held the WBA, IBF, WBO and The Ring lightweight belts form 2021-2022. Also an amateur standout, he claimed the IBO title last July with a majority decision over Maxi Hughes.

Prior to the win over Hughes, he had dropped back-to-back decisions to Devin Haney, suffering his first two career defeats.

Vasyl Lomachenko-George Kambosos Results: Rough Night For The Ring Announcer

In early action, Cherneka Johnson topped Nina Hughes via majority decision to claim the WBA bantamweight title. The result, though, caused plenty of intrigue.

Originally, the ring announcer declared that Hughes had retained her belt. However, the scorecards were read wrong and Johnson, a native of Australia, was the winner.

Johnson was the winner 96-94 and 98-92 with the other card reading it a draw at 95-95.

Pedro Guevara bested Andrew Moloney via split decision, taking two scorecards 115-113 with Moloney earning a 116-112 card.

With the win, Guevara claimed the interim WBC super flyweight championship. After the fight, Moloney announced his immediate retirement from boxing.
