The much-hyped Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson event on Netflix suffered some serious issues Friday night. The event took place from Arlington Stadium just outside of Dallas.
While the action prior to the main event was hot, many were left watching their screens buffer as Netflix was hit with a server error. Throughout the night, social media was trending with hashtags questioning the provider and wondering what they were missing.
The pre-show brought in several celebrity guests including Rosie Perez, Cedric the Entertainer and Jerry Jones. Boxing legends such as Roy Jones Jr., Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis were also present.
Mike Tyson Goes The Distance With Jake Paul
Despite being nearly 60 years old, Mike Tyson went the full eight rounds (albeit two minutes each) with Jake Paul Friday night. In the end, Paul scored the decision in a bout that generated plenty of noise from the crowd.
While many were left without being able to see it due to issues with Netflix, those that did, did not miss much. Tyson came out and threw some punches early before giving way to Father Time.
Paul, meanwhile, started putting combos together later in the fight. He never really threatened to finish the former champion, though, settling for the victory as both embraced after.
Katie Taylor wins rematch in controversial fashion
Katie Taylor retained her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring women’s lightweight titles. She did so in the co-main event with a decision victory over Amanda Serrano in a rematch.
However, while Taylor was declared the winner by the judges, others disagreed. Taylor landed few punches, threw fewer punches and had a worse percentage.
Serrano did look worse for wear thanks to a head-butt. The collision of heads left Serrano with a nasty gash over her right eye.
In the other title fight of the night, Mario Barrios retained the WBC welterweight championship. Barrios and Abel Ramos battled for 12 rounds, with the judges declaring it a draw.
Neeraj Goyat kicked off the main card with a decision over Whindersson Nunes. Shadasia Green, Lucas Bahdi and Bruce Carrington were the other winners.
