Folks, meet Russian MMA fighter Idris Abdurashitov. Because this might be the last time you ever see him compete or hear his name.
Over the weekend, Abdurashitov was involved in a boxing match with Bagher Faraji. The match took place inside the Western Boxing Gym on Soi Ta-ied in Phuket, Thailand. Remember, this was a boxing match as you continue to read.
The Iranian national boxing team member was dominating Abudrashitov when the Russian opted to throw a head-kick. In a boxing match, remind you. The kick landed, knocking Faraji out and unconscious because there was no defense put up because of it being a boxing match.
Abdurashitov promptly walked over to his corner inside the ring and left without saying a word. To make matters worse, he took to social media after and actually bragged about what he had done.
“So (I) debuted in professional boxing and disqualification for life,” he wrote. “This kick with the leg I threw away with a machine gun!”
The comments called for Abdurashitov to be banned from competing for life. He has fought four times throughout his MMA career, winning all four, including a victory for ONE Championship.
The 26-year-old Faraji competed four times before the bout with Abdurashitov, going 1-3. His lone win came back in 2019 via a majority decision, as this was his second bout of the calendar year.
Hopefully, he is doing better and this is not something we continue to see happen. Can you imagine if it was on a bigger stage that someone attempted to do this?
