Eddie Hearn Claims Tyson Fury Won’t Face Oleksandr Usyk In Trilogy If He Wins Saturday, Has Bigger Fight Lined Up Next

Tyson Fury won’t face Oleksandr Usyk in a trilogy fight if he scores a revenge win on Saturday? That is the likely plan according to powerful boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.

This Saturday, one of the biggest matches in heavyweight boxing history will go down in Saudi Arabia. Following their first clash in May, division greats Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will step back in the ring for a second time with all the heavyweight gold on the line.

The Ukrainian scored a razor-thin split-decision victory in their first clash. A second victory this weekend would push Usyk into the debate as the greatest heavyweight of all time. However, if “Gypsy King” were to score vengeance it would seemingly set up one of the biggest trilogy fights in boxing history.

However, Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn says not so fast. Because Fury is likely moving on to the biggest money fight in the sport right now instead.

Tyson Fury will face Anthony Joshua after Oleksandr Usyk rematch?

“Yeah. For sure,” Hearn told Al Arabiya News when asked if Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua can be the biggest-grossing fight in boxing history. “I mean, for years and still to this day, I’ll keep getting asked when’s it going to happen?

“Obviously, if Fury wins the fight on Saturday, that sets up a massive fight with AJ. If he loses the fight, it’s still a huge fight with AJ. You know we’ve got the potential of a Daniel DuBois rematch as well, so I think AJ’s next fight will be Fury or DuBois,” he added. “I don’t see many other big fights out there for him.”

Joshua — who is represented by Hearn — was hit with the fourth loss of his career in September when he suffered a fifth-round knockout to Daniel DuBois. Nevertheless, a clash between the two legendary English fighters would be a massive matchup in the UK.

It would certainly be far more interesting if Tyson Fury entered it off a win. But because of both men’s name value and resume, it will still be a huge even if he was handed a second straight loss by Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.
