Roy Jones held his own inside the boxing ring for years, winning world titles in four different weight classes. The Olympic silver medalist is regarded as one of the greatest to do it ever, leaving his mark on the sport.

For Jones, when he sees a fellow pugilist not living up to his potential, he has issues. That is what the 55-year-old views when he breaks down the upcoming Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois rematch.

“When Daniel knocks you down two or three times, you can’t keep your hands down,” Jones said in an interview with Betway Insider. “You have to box smart if you want to win. You can’t roll the dice with Daniel when you’ve been knocked down. Don’t do crazy (expletive) like that.”

Joshua, who held the unified heavyweight title twice between 2016 and 2021, won Olympic gold in 2012. He was unable to get his offense going against Dubois, suffering a fifth round knockout loss for the IBF belt.

The loss snapped a four-fight win streak for Joshua, who finished Francis Ngannou in the second round earlier this year. He also holds wins over Otto Wallin, Alexander Povetkin and of course his 2017 TKO of Wladimir Klitschko.

Joshua successfully avenged a previous loss in 2019 with a decision over Andy Ruiz Jr. to reclaim the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts. He had suffered a stunning seventh round TKO defeat to Ruiz earlier in the year.

“I think Anthony wins the rematch because he will box smarter, I hope,” Jones said. “He should’ve won the first one but he didn’t fight smart but I think he wins the rematch. If he doesn’t box smart, Daniel knocks him out again. He is one hell of a puncher and is not afraid of Joshua.

“If Anthony boxes dumb with his hands down, he will get beat. I know he got told to roll the dice but at that point, when a guy has knocked you down and is throwing heavy punches at you like Daniel, you can’t roll the dice with a guy like that.”
