‘Medical Emergency’ Threatens Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul

Is the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight in jeopardy? According to the former heavyweight champion’s camp everything is fine after reports surfaced of an apparent “medical emergency.”

Monday morning In Touch Weekly reported that shortly before American Airlines Flight 1815 was set to land in Los Angeles from Miami, a request for any medical professionals onboard to assist a fellow passenger was announced.

An eyewitness told the outlet that the screens on the flight read “‘medical assistance needed’ and repeated the same thing.” 

First responders came aboard to the plane upon landing to tend to Mike Tyson after he became
“nauseous and dizzy.” Once the paramedics entered the cabin, the same witness claims that a stewardess non-verbally confirmed that it was indeed Mike Tyson who needed medical care. 

Reps for Mike Tyson downplayed the seriousness of the event, attributing his pain and nausea to an ulcer flare-up. “Thankfully, Mr. Tyson is doing great,” the statement read.

Jake Paul, who is scheduled to box Mike Tyson in a matter of weeks, refuted rumors that the bout was affected in any way. Shortly after the news broke, the 27-year-old social media influencer tweeted, “You love to make shit up before knowing the facts for clicks / likes. Nothing changed.”

The soon-to-be 58-year-old will face Jake Paul on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be broadcast on Netflix. While Tyson fought fellow boxing great Roy Jones, Jr. to a draw in a 2020 exhibition, this will be his first official fight since he refused to answer the bell for the seventh round in a loss to Kevin McBride in 2005.
