If Lawrence Okolie has his choice, he will return to the boxing ring in 2025 against a high-level foe. And for his opponent, the top contender wants Daniel Dubois.

Okolie, a 31-year old from London, England, owns a record of 20-1 in his career with 15 knockouts. He captured the WBC bridgerweight title this past May, bouncing back from his first loss.

“We know when it comes to heavyweight world titles, the WBC is the most recognized title,” Okolie told Betway during a recent interview. “You’ve had Tyson Fury and Lennox Lewis hold the title, and I’ve just won a world title wth them, so that would be fantastic to be the first bridgerweight and heavyweight world champion with the WBC.

“That can only be done with the WBC. They’ve been good to me from when I won the world title to now, so I’d like to win the green and gold belt.”

As for Dubois, he knocked out Anthony Joshua in September to retain his IBF heavyweight title. He is on a three-fight win streak and is 22-2 overall with 21 knockouts.

Lawrence Okolie Has Big Plans For His Immediate Fighting Future

“Of course I would take the fight, that would be the ideal scenario,” Okolie said. “But I like to be realistic so that’s why I say I need to have this fight in December, have a big heavyweight fight next year and challenge for thew world title. But if being with Frank Warren ended up working out where I fight Dubois next, then of course. The quickest route to the world title and what’s stopping me from winning that fight and then going on to unify for the WBC title.”

Okolie fought his first 20 bouts in England before taking on Lukasz Rozanski in Poland for the bridgerweight title. The belt was created in 2021, with Okolie becoming the third person to hold it. He later vacated it upon moving to heavyweight, with Kevin Lerena becoming interim champion.

In 2016, he presented Great Britain at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After advancing to the round of 16, Okolie lost to Erislandy Savon, who went on to win the bronze medal.
