In one fell swoop, Jake Paul was able to take a funny shot at UFC greats Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor’s ability to give and take punches.
YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul has had a fascinating 10-fight career in boxing. Instead of building his reputation in the sport by competing against other prospects, he has instead used his fame to face celebrities and UFC veterans like Nate Robinson, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren.

While he has millions of detractors, he has gained respect in the fight game by scoring victories over MMA legend Anderson Silva, and more experienced boxers like Andre August and Ryan Bourland. Over his 10 bouts in boxing, he has faced a wide variety of fighters with differing styles and strengths. Yet in fighting, hitting hard makes an athlete stand out. However, Diaz stood out for the opposite reason in their bout last year.
During a recent sitdown with UFC bantamweight king Sean O’Malley, the topic of an MMA rematch against Nate Diaz came up, and during the conversation, Paul claimed the former UFC’s stars punching power was laughable.
Jake Paul says he wanted to laugh at Nate Diaz’s punching power during their fight
“He’s also the weakest puncher I’ve ever fought,” Paul said. “When he was hitting me, I almost started laughing. I’m not even saying this to talk s***. Out of everyone I’ve sparred with in my whole entire life, and everyone I’ve fought, it’s him. I’m not even talking s***, which is why I find it so funny that he dropped Conor McGregor.”
Paul scored an August 2023 unanimous decision win over Diaz and even knocked the cage-fighting veteran down late in the fight. Diaz took part in a highly profitable two-fight series against former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor in 2016. The UFC stars split the pair of bouts.
