Eight years after ending a career that saw him face icons of the sport like Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez, Shane Mosley is stepping back into the ring.
The former three-division champion will take part in a celebrity boxing card on Sept 28 in Philadelphia. Shane Mosley will face Philly-based boxing trainer Bob Kofroth in a light heavyweight exhibition main event. David Kurzhal, a martial artist and actor who goes by “The Viking Samurai,” was originally scheduled to fight Shane Mosley, until an injury caused the late change.

The fight card, promoted under the Official Celebrity Boxing Banner, also features Kimbo Slice Jr, son of street fighter turned MMA star Kimbo Slice. Former Roc-a-fella Records personalities Damon Dash and Freeway will also be in attendance. Dash will act as a celebrity referee.
This will not be Shane Mosley’s first foray into celebrity-themed boxing. In 2010, he won a decision over NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal as part of the “Shaq Vs.” reality show.
Shane Mosley’s legendary career includes battle with Canelo Alvarez and wins over Oscar De La Hoya
During his 23-year professional boxing career, “Sugar” Shane Mosley picked up word titles at lightweight, welterweight, and light middleweight and faced a who’s who of his era. He defeated Oscar De La Hoya, Fernando Vargas, and Ricardo Mayorga twice as well as a lone victory over Antonio Margarito.
Mosley also faced Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao, Alvarez, and Miguel Cotto before retiring after a decision loss to David Avanesyan in 2016.
Since then, he has been a guiding force for his son, Shane Mosley Jr. The younger Shane most recently defeated Danny Jacobs in July.
