Conor McGregor is the most famous UFC fighter of all time, but it seems his loyalty is now to the company he is a part owner of, BKFC.
It has been a long time since we have seen former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor inside the Octagon. After breaking his ankle in a second straight loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021, the Irish superstar has been rumored or scheduled to return multiple times. Yet he has remained on the sidelines.
However, he has kept his name in the spotlight in the years away and made headlines today while appearing at a BKFC press conference in Spain to promote the company’s upcoming card. There have been other UFC stars who owned smaller promotions, but their loyalty to the MMA world leader was never in question. That may no longer be the case when it comes to “Notorious.”
Conor McGregor publicly recruiting UFC and PFL fighters to BKFC
While taking questions at the presser, McGregor surprisingly suggested that fighters from UFC or PFL should not seek out pay raises with either company. Instead, joining bare-knuckle boxing promotion BKFC is where they can take their fame to the next level.
“I don’t want to see, nor do I give a f*** about UFC fighters going to PFL or going to another promotion,” McGregor said. “You need to break it up, you need to mix it up. You need to try something new to really break into that next level of superstardom and respect. Of money and power and we have it all here at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. I’m excited to see what type of fighters we get.”
- Conor McGregor record:Â 22-6 (19 knockouts, 1 submission)
Conor McGregor purchased an ownership stake in BKFC earlier this year, so it is understandable why he hopes to see more big-name MMA fighters join the company. He also revealed during the presser that he only has two fights left on his UFC contract and is very open to the idea of becoming an active fighter in BKFC.
