Terence Crawford Shockingly Comes To The Defense Of Jake Paul: ‘I Gained A Lot Of Respect For Jake’

While Jake Paul has many detractors in the fight game, one of the best in the world — Terence Crawford — actually has a lot of respect for the talents of the YouTuber turned pugilist.

This past weekend, Jake Paul moved his record to 10-1 and extended his win streak to four straight with a dominant technical knockout victory over Mike Perry. Many notable names in and around the fight game panned the win, including UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

They claimed the booking was a mockery and that Paul was far bigger than the BKFC star. It is one of many criticisms levied on the former child actor in what has been a financially successful journey into boxing. Yet, there are many around the industry that due have respect for what “Problem Child” has done in a short amount of time.

You can now add WBA super welterweight and WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford to the surprising list of supporters.

Terence Crawford tosses praise at the boxing skills of Jake Paul

“I gained a lot of respect for Jake because he’s not a YouTuber that’s just boxing just to box. He actually trains and wants to get better,” Crawford said on an appearance on “The MMA Hour” this week. “And actually, he has gotten better and really puts his time, focus, and energy into boxing. You gotta respect that … A lot of people write Jake off but Jake can punch with that right. He’s got a nice right hand.”

Crawford is viewed by many as the best pure boxer in the sport today and the top pound-for-pound fighter in the game. He returns to the ring on August 3rd in a move up in weight against rising star Israil Madrimov. Paul will be back in action in November in a highly anticipated clash with boxing icon Mike Tyson.
