The highly anticipated July scrap between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has officially been postponed to a later date.

On Monday, In Touch Weekly reported that shortly before American Airlines Flight 1815 was set to land in Los Angeles from Miami, a request for medical professionals was sent out to assist a fellow passenger dealing with a health concern. It was soon revealed the passenger was former heavyweight king Mike Tyson.

After the incident, reps for “Iron Mike” claimed he was fine and the situation was simply an ulcer-related issue. Tyson himself even took to X, formerly Twitter, to say, “Now feeling 100% even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul.” Well, it seems that isn’t the case and it has derailed his July 20 return to the boxing ring on Netflix.

“During a follow-up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare-up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations.

Both Mike and Jake are in agreement that it is only fair to ensure that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important match and are able to compete at the highest level. The health and well-being of athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself.

Mike is expected to return to his full training schedule in the coming weeks and is eager to get back in the ring. MVP anticipates rescheduling the match to later this year at AT&T Stadium, and we look forward to an exciting and well-prepared contest between these two exceptional athletes. The new date of the fight will be announced by next Friday, June 7th.”

The revelation will surely disappoint fans of Tyson and Paul who were looking forward to the bout that was set to go down inside the home of the Dallas Cowboys. However, for the matchup’s detractors, it will further fuel claims the fight is not a good idea for the legend who will turn 58 years old later this year.
