A perfect 28-0 in his career, Benavidez is coming off a sixth-round finish of Demetrius Andrade. He has successfully retained the interim WBC super middleweight title twice. In 2022, he won the belt with a third-round TKO of David Lemieux.

Benavidez also held the WBC super middleweight belt in 2019 when he finished Anthony Dirrell. He also has wins over Caleb Plant, Ronald Gavril, and Kyrone Davis. Gvozdyk is a 37-year-old from Ukraine who has held the WBC and lineal light heavyweight titles. He is 20-1 in his career, with the lone loss coming in 2019 vs. Artur Beterbiev.
