After weeks of speculation, the UFC 300 main event has finally been announced.

Company CEO Dana White took to social media to announce that the highly anticipated card would be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Alex Periera and former champion Jamahal Hill. The announcement was made moments after the conclusion of UFC 298.

The news concludes an active rumor mill about who would be put into the coveted spot. Among the discussed fights were Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler, Driscus Du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya, and Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad.

UFC 300 will mark the return of Jamahal Hill following a prolonged recovery from an achilles injury. Hill, who defeated Glover Texeira at UFC 283 to earn the crown, vacated the belt just months later.

Alex Pereria became light heavyweight champion in November when he defeated Jiri Prochazka in November for the vacant strap. It will the first time the former middleweight king defends at 205 pounds.
