Superlek Kiatmoo9 retained his flyweight kickboxing title with a win in the main event of ONE: 165 from the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
The event marked the return for the promotion to the country.
Superlek picked up a decision over former three-division K-1 champion Takeru Segawa.
The Thai superstar took control from the outset with a torrent of low kicks, targeting his Japanese opponent’s lead leg. It was a relentless assault from Superlek, but Takeru displayed impressive resilience as he countered with his trademark boxing combinations.
In the co-main event, Kade Ruotolo retained the ONE lightweight submission grappling crown with a victory over Tommy Langaker.
The 21-year-old BJJ phenom again showcased his creative transitions and positional dominance while demonstrating his ability to string together various attacks. This allowed Ruotolo to pursue a myriad of submission attempts that Langaker was forced to defend.
ONE Results: Shinya Aoki Submits John Lineker
One of the featured bouts saw former champion Shinya Aoki submit John Lineker.
Aoki locked in a rear-naked choke in the first round of their MMA-rules openweight match.
Originally, he was scheduled to face Sage Northcutt. Lineker, a former UFC title contender and ONE champion, replaced Northcutt on just hours’ notice.
Nieky Holzken stopped Yoshihiro Akiyama and Marat Grigorian earned a third round knockout.
